Hey everyone–little disclaimer: this will be Cross Stitch’s last post. We’d like to thank everyone that’s been with us throughout this project, who’s supported us, read our material, liked our pages and followed along for the ride. You guys have been amazing and we so so SO appreciate everything. We’re going to be pursing different endeavors and we hope ya’ll understand. Onward and upward as they say!
For this shoot, we went to a hiking spot in the area and it was so picturesque that day! Little did I know it was also supposed to be very warm and pants suddenly seemed like a horrible idea.
I’m not usually a printed pants girl anyhow, but I loved these navy and white combo from H&M. It was the first time I’d worn them and had a little trouble picking out a top to go with! I, of course, fell back on my ol’ faithful (read: black) but it grounds the pants and makes them less crazy. (That’s my excuse and I’m stickin’ to it!)
The half-tucked top was a nod to my stylish co-workers, and is definitely a styling cheat I will be using more often. Paired with a long necklace and simple black flats, this is a great every-day outfit when you want to step outside the box and try something a bit bolder than you’re used to.
We hope we’ve inspired you guys to rummage through your own closets and mix and match different styles and separates. Not every thing needs to be the newest of the new and you can often rework old articles of clothing–it just takes some imagination! Style is a form of expression and you shouldn’t be afraid to express yourself!

I know I said in my Fall Favorites post that I was combining both my Fall and Winter favorites, but because Spring Equinox is this Friday (March 20th), Michelle and I wanted to close out the season with our Winter favorites before Spring officially begins!
Without further ado, my Winter favorites:
1. Sam Hunt‘s Montevallo album. As soon as I heard “Leave The Night On”, I was hooked! Fun fact: Sam co-wrote Keith Urban‘s hit song “Cop Car” which Sam also recorded for Montevallo! If you like Florida-Georgia Line, I guarantee you’ll like Sam Hunt!
2. My burgundy mini mason jar & succulent by Twine & Dandy. If you haven’t bought a mason jar from Twine & Dandy yet, what are you waiting for?!
3. Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Red Dahlia:
(Their Lip Crayons are really nice too!)
4. My white cable knit sweater from Forever 21 & statement necklace from Charming Charlie:
5. My Ella J. “Proud Supporter Of Messy Hair And Sweatpants” sweatshirt! Soooo cozy!
What were some of your favorites this Winter?
I’m totally kidding. Everyone knows we don’t need to read another thing about THAT BOOK because THAT MOVIE is out now. (Clearly neither of us have plans to see it). BUT seeing as Michelle’s look is monochromatic, I’m rollin’ with it!
And oooooh girl! Michelle stepped up her game with this shoot! To be honest, it’s a rare occurrence for me to see her in a dress and though this is a tunic-style dress, it still counts!
Michelle found these really awesome abstract leggings she’s OBSESSED with from Thread Lounge and opted for a more eclectic outfit this week. Though eclectic, she keeps the tones subdued and stays with that aforementioned monotone color palette that really makes her long (and newly dyed) hair pop!
If you haven’t been to Thread Lounge on Valencia Street in San Francisco thus far, we highly recommend it! Super great for unique discounted designer clothing and accessories.

Unlike the East Coast, we don’t really get hit hard by Winter here in California. Thus, it’s been about mid-70’s as of late and when you’re over wearing pants (who isn’t), a maxi dress can work! Here are 3 ways Sam styled her basic black maxi dress for Winter:
Because we’ve been so fortunate with our weather, this is the least bundled-up version of the maxi. Which would actually work really well year-round! Layered with a simple flannel, the statement necklace and lace-up boots give the outfit some edge!

This second combo is GREAT for chilly winter days when you want something fast & easy to wear. Just throw on an over-sized sweater and your favorite scarf and you’re good to go! If it’s not horribly cold, you can get away with flats too 😉
Outfit #2 | Maxi Dress: Target // Sweater: H&M // Scarf: H&M // Earrings: Forever 21 // Shoes: Steve Madden.
This final outfit is pretty much a combination of the first two. The layering of a chambray top, cozy sweater and of course a statement necklace. Any printed or colored button down that contrasts with a neutral sweater is so great because it adds a pop of color. The statement necklace really hones in on the color palette of the look and the booties make it more playful!
Outfit #3 | Maxi Dress: Target // Shirt: McCaulou’s // Sweater: Forever 21 // Earrings: Forever 21 // Necklace: Charming Charlie // Shoes: Target.
FINALLY! A post where Michelle’s wearing her giraffe pants! I’m in love with these pants, and she acquired them on her trip to Kenya over the summer from The Maasai Market in Nairobi. The color is perfect for any season and though they’re soft pants, they’re not too sheer, which means they can be worn year round!
Michelle pairs a cropped sweater, beaded necklace (also from Kenya) and laser-cut sandals (in Winter!) with her soft pants. This is a quick and easy go-to outfit when you want to be casual but still stylish!
Sweater: McCaulou’s; Pants: Maasai Market, Nairobi; Necklace: Maasai Market, Nairobi; Shoes: City Classified.
We ended up chasing the sunset with this shoot and for the life of me, I could not stop staring at the sky. If you know me (or have read our About Us page), you know I have an affinity for sunsets (and sunrises, but let’s be honest–I hate mornings). The dialogue went something like this:
“Oh my god!!!! Look how awesome it looks!!!!”
-insert crying laughing emoji here- After being incredibly unamused with me and my affinity for sunsets, Michelle managed to pull me away from the view and we got our shoot in before the sun set entirely.
Michelle sports a tribal printed burgundy poncho with effortlessness and the richness of the burgundy pops amazingly against the lush vegetation in the background. Michelle keeps it simple and opts for our standard outfit base (a black cami and black skinnies) and completes the look with some cognac boots. While minimal, this outfit becomes a go-to for a casual-chic weekend outfit and if you haven’t considered it yet, a poncho can be a really great investment for the cold Fall and Winter months.

We took a little hiatus recently, due to some changes in both Sam’s and my personal life but we’re “Out Of The Woods” now and we’re back!
Happy February everyone! Hope your Valentine’s/Galentine’s Day was lovely!
Since Taylor Swift is practically Sam’s idol, our copy-cat title seemed appropriate. Depending on where you’re located in The States (or anywhere else in the Northern Hemisphere), chances are you’re buried in snow, and we are sending a lot of virtual hot tea and blankets your way. If you’re in California, you’re absolutely loving this early arrival of sunny days! Sam dresses perfectly for this weather by throwing a sweater over a lightweight tee, and is prepped for whatever weather the day holds. Top it off with a super cute felt hat and you’re good to go!
